It has come to our attention that management of CFIA has distributed to supervisors, a chart for interpreting overtime and mileage with instructions to apply new rules for OT and mileage right away. This chart changes the way the collective agreement articles around mileage and overtime have traditionally been interpreted.
We have initiated consultation with CFIA, but in the meantime members are advised to continue to apply for overtime and mileage as they always have when required to return to work for overtime purposes. If those claims are rejected, members should file the appropriate grievances requesting they be compensated as per their collective agreement.
