Our bargaining agent, the Public Service Alliance of Canada, is responsible for collecting our members’ dues and then rebating the appropriate share to the Agriculture Union and to your workplace Local. Normally, that’s an accurate and seamless process.
However, among its many problems, the disastrous Phoenix pay system has been unable to properly calculate union dues. As a result, many Agriculture Union members either overpaid or underpaid dues, particularly those that have undergone significant changes like being promoted, changing positions, going on parental leave, or retiring.
Every month, the PSAC sends the government a file that lists changes, adjustments and corrections to dues amounts to be implemented by the pay system. Since March 2016, Phoenix has been unable to process this information.
Now, we are pleased to report that this particular issue has been resolved. Correct dues information will be indicated on the November 14 paycheque.
The PSAC has been in contact with members affected by the union dues issue. A number of steps will be taken to rebalance overpayment and underpayment issues.
Please visit the PSAC Web site HERE for more specific information on this process.
