One of the great leaders of our union has sadly left us. Larry Leng, past Agriculture Union National President, passed away peacefully at age 78 on August 24.
Larry was a dedicated and enthusiastic supporter of our union. His activism began in the late 1970s in his hometown of London, Ontario. He quickly rose to be President of Agriculture Union Local 00016. His abilities and commitment eventually saw him elected to two terms as National President, serving from 1993 to 1999.
Larry then enjoyed a healthy and active retirement, indulging his favourite pastime: fishing. Those of us who were fortunate to have known Larry as a colleague and friend will remember him for his good humour, intelligence and quick wit.
Our Union is fortunate to have had a tradition of dedicated, effective National Presidents. Larry contributed immensely to the strength and success of today’s Agriculture Union.
