Thanks to the generosity of our members, the Agriculture Union, when called upon, is able to help the lives of those less fortunate than ourselves. And, whether our support is made directly or through our Social Justice Fund, the last thing we are looking for is praise.
Still, it’s a nice feeling when our good deeds are recognized.
That was the case this October, when the Canadian Red Cross sent us a certificate of appreciation for our support of the relief work for the Fort McMurray firestorm victims. The certificate can be viewed HERE.
Last May, the Agriculture Union made a $5,000 donation from our Social Justice Fund to the Red Cross ‘Alberta Fires Emergency Appeal’ fund. Our contribution supported registration, shelter and feeding of the fleeing population, as well as helped to provide trauma counselling for those who have seen their lives turned upside down.
The community of Fort Murray is getting back on its feet, we’re proud and pleased to have played our modest part.
