Triennial Convention postponed due to COVID-19

Concerns over the impact of the COVID-19 virus has led the Agriculture Union to postpone the dates of our upcoming Triennial Convention to mid-November.

Taking into account the safety and security of all convention participants, the decision was made by our National Council after much consideration.

Our Convention was originally scheduled for this summer in Calgary. While the venue will not change, the dates have been pushed back to November 18-20. This timeframe may well be reexamined in the light of the progress of the pandemic over the months ahead.  As well, provincial health authorities in Alberta have indicated that the current ban on mass gatherings will be reevaluated in the fall.

In light of the pandemic, the PSAC’s National Board of Directors voted to suspend timelines in the PSAC Constitution and in Component By-Laws.  This decision allows Components to postpone conventions and allows Locals to move forward with ongoing Convention planning.

We are continuing to monitor the COVID-19 situation closely and will keep you posted.  For more information, please don’t hesitate to contact your Local President or your Regional Vice-President.
