WFA-ETP Resources

In July, 2025, the Mark Carney Liberal government announced a Comprehensive Expenditure Review aimed at reducing the budget of the federal public service by 15% over the next three years. Cuts such as these can be a cause of concern for our members, but it’s important to know that the Agriculture Union is here to fight for your rights.

While the employer has the unilateral right under federal law to make these staffing changes, your union has negotiated provisions of your collective agreement that offer some degree of job security.

For our members employed by the Canadian Food Inspection Agency, these provisions are known as the Employment Transition Policy (ETP).

For all other members, whose employer is technically the Treasury Board, the provisions are known as the Workforce Adjustment (WFA) appendix to your collective agreement.

To assist our members in affected positions, we have compiled a number of resources and sources of useful information. This can be accessed by clicking on the name of the Department or Agency listed below.

Canadian Food Inspection Agency
